Three Patriots Sign to Play at College Level

NOV. 13 -- This afternoon, MPCS athletes Sofia Cendoya, Greyson Stevens, and Bryce Ferraro signed contracts to continue their athletic careers with institutions of higher learning.

Senior Sofia Cendoya signed to play volleyball for Oglethorpe University. Cendoya is a 4-year letterman, served as varsity captain for two years, was named to the 2019 All-Area Team and represented Mount Pisgah in two sweet sixteen playoff appearances.

"A natural leader, Sofia is a hard-working, dedicated athlete," said Leah Longoria, head varsity volleyball coach. "She earns respect from her teammates, her peers and her coaches due to her passion for and commitment to achieving excellence within her sport. She exemplifies success through years of hard work and determination."

Greyson Stevens, a standout lacrosse player, signed to play for the University of Alabama in Huntsville. "Greyson has been instrumental to the growth and of the Mount Pisgah lacrosse program because he has been able to lead his teammates into buying into a successful mission," said Connor Breslin, who coached Stevens at Mount Pisgah. "On game days, he has filled so many roles from scorer, to distributor, to ground ball vacuum, and man-down defense."

Bryce Ferraro will also be joining Stevens at the University of Alabama in Huntsville to play lacrosse. "We asked Bryce to facilitate our offense on almost every possession and we asked that he play nearly flawlessly so as to set an example for his teammates," said Breslin, who also praised Ferraro's talent and competitive nature. "He willingly accepted this challenge and put together masterful performances night after night even though he always drew the other team's best defender."

Congratulations to these three Patriots on their achievements and commitment to pursuing their athletic success at the next level! Please join us in congratulating these student athletes.
