Patriots End 2018 Football Season

Patriots End 2018 Football Season

NOV. 2 -- The Mount Pisgah Varsity Football team ended its 2018 season tonight with a 24-38 loss to the Christian Heritage Lions (6-3) in the last game of the regular season.

The Patriots entered the game five spots outside of a playoff berth, so it was unlikely that they would have advanced further, but the team still played hard against Christian Heritage.

In the first quarter, the Lions scored the first touchdown of the night, but the Patriots responded with a field goal by Payton Broaddus to trail 3-7. Then, early in the second quarter, the Patriots capped off a 99-yard drive with a 34-yard pass from quarterback Connor Norwood to Chase Grande to take a 10-7 lead. Holding the Lions to a field goal later in the quarter, the Patriots scored again when Grande ran back a kickoff return 77 yards for a touchdown. At halftime, the Patriots led 17-10.

The Lions, however, outscored the Patriots four touchdowns to one in the second half to make the final score 24-38 and bring the Patriots' season to an end.

Overall, the Varsity Football team finished #28 in the GHSA Class A Private power ratings with a 3-7 record for the 2018 season and 3-4 in Region 6-A.

The team graduates a dedicated senior class: Lukas Aden, Matthew Buckis, Chase Grande, Jake Harvey, Aaron McCoy, Matthew McKinnon, Mikey Nardella, Brady Natoli, Connor Norwood, Bowen Harris, Noah Swift, and Jakob Wooten.

Congratulations to all of the Varsity Football seniors for their hard work over the years and thanks to our Patriot fans for supporting the team this season. Patriot Football will return to the PAC in August 2019. Go Patriots!
